    Who Was Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes?

His full name was Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes, but he was known as El Mencho. Born on July 17, 1966, in Aguililla, Michoacán, Mexico. He was a former police officer and sixth-grade dropout who became one of the world’s most feared drug leaders after “El Chapo” was captured. In 2009, he founded CJNG, and the cartel became a global empire trafficking fentanyl, meth, and cocaine under his leadership. He was also known for his cruel behavior, which makes him a criminal.

He was Mexico’s most wanted cartel boss and head of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. If we talk about his personal life, he married Rosalinda González Valencia in 1996, and his wife was a prominent figure in the “Cuinis” clan (the financial arm of the cartel) and was recently released from prison in February 2025. Reportedly, the couple separated in 2018 but remain legally married. The couple has three children: Rubén Oseguera González (“El Menchito,” currently in US custody), Jessica Johanna, and Laisha.

After El Mencho’s operational death, his cartel members began setting buses and trucks on fire to block major highways in Jalisco, Michoacán, and Colima. Businesses closed in major cities such as Guadalajara, and residents remained indoors as violence broke out. Due to this type of violence, schools were closed in many states. Additionally, flights and major tours were grounded or diverted due to security concerns at the airport. This violence is taking place on 23 February 2026, and it is still ongoing. An operation has also begun to take control of it and make people safe. Many videos showing violence are being circulated, and soldiers are seen standing at every corner to stop the violence in these viral videos.

    What Happened in Mexico Violence?

    How Did El Mencho Die

Mexico has experienced much violence in the form of “retaliatory terrorism” led by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) following the death of the leader. The violence is called narcoblocos (narco-blockades) meant to block the major roads, and it continues to paralyze the country and prevent further military movement. So far, the problem has escalated to more than 250 blockades in at least 20 Mexican states, where cartel members violently hijack cargo trucks, transit buses, and private cars at gunpoint, park them on major highways, and set them on fire.
